Turn duties into evidence questions
Instead of asking “Can you cook?”, ask about one meal she prepared for a household, how she planned the ingredients, which parts were difficult and how she handled a change in timing. Use the same structure for childcare, older-person support and housekeeping.
Follow vague answers with neutral prompts: who was present, what happened first, what did you do next and how did the employer know the task was complete? Do not supply the answer you hope to hear.

Cover the working relationship, not only technical tasks
Ask how the candidate prefers to receive instructions, how she responds when two adults give different directions, what she does when she does not understand and how she raises a safety concern.
Explain the real role, accommodation, rest arrangements and household rhythm. An interview is also the candidate’s opportunity to decide whether the employment fits her expectations.
