Abscondment reporting

Maid Missing or Absconded: Official Steps for Employer

Report an absconded foreign domestic helper with the police and Immigration documents, then complete the separate labour notification.

The short answer

File a police report and submit the Immigration abscondment and pass-cancellation documents promptly. Immigration’s checklist requires the application letter, employer or representative identity copy, worker passport copy, abscondment report form and certified police-report copy. Immigration records the worker for blacklisting and the security deposit or guarantee is forfeited under the official process. Separately, notify the Director General of Labour within 30 days as required by section 57B of the Employment Act.

Prepare the Immigration file in one set

Write the application to cancel the PL(KS), complete the official abscondment form and attach the employer or representative identity copy, worker passport copy and certified police-report copy. Submit through the Immigration office handling the case and retain the stamped acknowledgement or case reference.

Record the last known date, contact attempts and any agency involvement factually. Do not edit or recreate message evidence; retain the original dates and channels.

Complete the separate labour notification

Section 57B treats abscondment as an employment-ending event that requires notice to the Director General of Labour within 30 days. File the notice through the applicable labour office and keep its acknowledgement separately from the Immigration record.

Update the employer file with the police report, Immigration cancellation record, labour notification, deposit consequence and any later authority correspondence.

The rules and figures here follow official Malaysian sources as at the review date, and your own situation can differ. Check what applies to your own case with the Immigration Department of Malaysia for permits and passes, or the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia for agency licensing and employment terms, before you act on it.
