Compare evidence, not labels
Ask both candidates the same questions about the three duties that matter most. Request one recent example, the steps taken and what happened when the routine changed.
For an experienced candidate, check whether previous methods suit your home. For a first-timer, look for careful listening, honest questions and the ability to repeat instructions accurately.
Match the choice to your teaching capacity
A busy household with no time for close onboarding may need stronger directly relevant experience. A household able to demonstrate routines patiently may place more weight on attitude and learning response.
Write the first-month support each candidate would require before deciding. The hidden cost of a mismatch is usually unclear expectations, not the label attached to the biodata.
