Start with the person’s day
List mobility, bathing, toileting, meals, appointments, medication reminders, supervision and night-time needs. Mark which items are household support, personal care or clinical work.
The category becomes clearer when the task list is specific. “Help an elderly parent” is too broad to select safely.
Build a safe handover
Ask the responsible clinician or family decision-maker to write any health-related instructions. Decide who monitors changes and who is contacted when the person becomes unwell.
Interview for the exact non-clinical or personal-care experience required. Do not expand a domestic role into skilled care after employment begins without proper training and review.
